  • (1954) Zimmerman Building- This building, at 33 E. Independence St., along with the top portion of the building on the left, burned in a spectacular fire on Dec. 31, 1974. At the time of the fire Leavett's Furniture Company occupied the first floor. The building was torn down days after the fire, and the plot of land sold on Aug. 14, 1978, for $100,000 to the Wendy's Corp.
