  • (Jan. 1961) Shamokin Reading Railroad Company freight and passenger stations- Demolition of the station began in Oct. of 1965 to make room for parking improvements. The freight station was razed in the spring of 1966.
  • (9.24.1949) “King Coal,” a passenger service train operated by Reading Railroad, pulls out of the Reading Railroad station along Independence Street for its maiden trip on Sept. 24, 1949. Paid passenger service ceased in Shamokin on June 28, 1963.
