Grace Lutheran Church- This church was organized on Oct. 31, 1885 at Seiler's Hall on Spruce Street. On March 4, 1887, Rev. William Weichsel was elected pastor. Lots at the corner of Seventh and Chestnut streets were purchased for $3,600. On Nov. 19, 1893, a church (seen here) measuring 30-by-50-foot was built. The older gentleman sitting at the table with the silk tie is Dr. C. C. Billig. Dr. Billig was head of the church council and an optometrist in Shamokin for many years.
