  • (1914) This float, sponsored by the Shamokin Lodge of Elks, appeared in a Shamokin parade in 1914.  The man driving the car in this picture is William B. Lewis, who owned the J.H. and C.K. Eagle Silk Mill in the early 1900s. The women seated in the back are Williams' wife, Anna L. Lewis, left, and Elizabeth Lewis Scott. The man in the passenger seat is Jacob Neihoff. The child is Florence Winkelspect. The picture was most likely taken outside the Williams' home on Sixth Street, Shamokin.

  • (1914) This steam-operated model of the Cameron Colliery, which later became the Glen Burn Colliery, is shown as it appeared on a float in 1914, prior to appearing in a parade to celebrate Shamokin's 50th Anniversary. The model was designed by the Evan Powell, an engineer for Susquehanna Collieries Company, which operated the Cameron Colliery for a time. The driver of the float was Frank Stahlnecker, who lived in a row of homes adjoining the colliery.
