The William-McConnell Building on the northeast corner of Rock and Sunbury streets- William McConnell was born on April 14, 1860. He came to Shamokin in 1882 as a partner in the firm Kulp, McWilliams and Company, which specialized in lumber, brick and ice. McConnell was one of the founders of Roaring Creek, Anthracite and Bear Gap Water Company, a predecessor of Shamokin Water Company, in 1886. He was also instrumental in building the Shamokin State General Hospital.

The William-McConnell Building on the northeast corner of Rock and Sunbury streets- William McConnell was born on April 14, 1860.
