  • Dietman Cabin.
  • (1870s) Cabin of Ignatius Deitman, at Berry's (houses near Burger King). The family story has it that the woman on the top-right, with the white apron, is Hester Eirich (Deitman), Ignatius' second wife. The gentleman with the black hat, vest and white shirt in the top-middle has the eyes and cheekbones of the next two generations, and most likely a Deitman. The identification of the others is unknown. The 1860 census shows him at age 33, living in Shamokin near Berry's with wife Pheby (nee Miller), 33, Joseph, 11, Sarah, 10, Charles, 7, and William, 3.<br /> The 1870 census shows him, age 40, living in the same place with wife Hester (nee Eirich), 32, Charles, 17, Martain, 15, William, 13, Alfred, 10, John, 7, Lizzie, 5 and James, 3. That would about match the ages of the children in the right-hand side of the picture if it was taken about 1873-1874. Ignatius was murdered in 1874 after a visit to Henry Bach's saloon. *Thanks to Stephanie C. John for this photo and information.*
