(1949) William A. Bautsch, who was employed by the Reading Railroad for 47 years, nine months and 12 days, retired August 1949. He began working for Reading at the Schuylkill Haven car shop. He was transferred to the Shamokin Engine House October 11, 1935, where he served as a car inspector. When began working for $.17 an hour and a $14 day. When he retired he was making $1.39 an hour. He was presented with a wallet, cash, and a bouquet of gladiolas for his wife. Presentation of the gifts were made by H.S. Billig, the foreman.
